Improving Security for Your New Development

Improving your security will often involve purchasing new security systems and installing in your existing property. You might invest in a good CCTV system for instance, a powerful digital lock or just a sturdier door, but in any case spending money on new installations can help you to keep people out of your building and catch them when they do trespass.

Better yet though is to think about the security of your property before you build it. This way you can plan from the ground up how you are going to make the most of the premises to provide the best security.

Hiding One Set of Cameras

When you choose the position of your CCTV cameras you should vary your strategies so that one lot are well hidden and one lot are on display. The reason for this is that the ones on display will act as deterrents and thus drive away anyone who would think about breaking into your property on a whim, while the second lot will provide a \\’back up\\’ in case your visible cameras are tampered with. Someone who has planned to break into your property in a pre-meditated manner might plan to take out your security cameras early on – but by having one or several hidden from sight you will still have a security even when they do this. If you keep these cameras on separate systems too, then this can give you a backup that will work even if one set goes down completely.

Use a Digital Lock

Digital locks give you a lot more options and flexibility in how you want to manage your security. If you have a digital lock in place, then a great strategy is to change the PIN from time to time. This way, even if someone is to find out what your pass code is, they won\\’t necessarily get to use it in time. Obviously most digital locks require more than one person to enter, so a great solution is to use a code that is hinged on the date. For instance the second two digits could be the day of the month plus one and that way everyone would always be able to work out what the password was who knew it, but it would change every single day.

Use Shutters

The biggest threat to your property is not the places where people could more easily break in, but actually the sheer fact that you might have some of your belongings on display. If you have a widescreen plasma TV in the window for instance then this will catch the eye of people passing by and make them more likely to want to break in. Simply close a set of shutters every time you go out though and you will be able to hide all of your things and remove the temptation for people to enter. Better yet this will also make it more difficult for people to break into your property as there will be an extra layer of protection keeping your windows safe.
